Finding a place to live while rebuilding your life can feel like a second full-time job. If you are looking for sober living in Eastern Kentucky, a useful first step is to understand what a home offers, what it costs and how you will get the care you need. You deserve clear answers before making a decision.
Understand housing and treatment separately
Sober living is supportive housing in a recovery-focused environment. It is different from detox, inpatient care or residential treatment. A person may live in recovery housing while attending separate outpatient appointments or programs. The right arrangement depends on that person's needs and an appropriate assessment.
At Ally, you can explore supportive sober living options and ask how housing may fit alongside outpatient treatment, peer support and care coordination. Housing availability and clinical eligibility are separate questions.
Five questions to ask before choosing a home
- What are the housing charges, deposits and payment expectations? Ask for these separately from treatment charges and insurance coverage.
- What are the house rules, daily expectations and policies for prescribed medications? Explain your current needs rather than assuming every home follows the same rules.
- What support is available during the day and overnight, and who should you contact if a problem comes up?
- How will you travel to appointments, work or essential errands? Confirm which transportation is available and any limitations.
- What happens if your needs change or you decide to leave? Ask about planning for the next step and how personal belongings are handled.
Choose a location that works for your daily life
Distance matters when you are coordinating appointments, family contact and everyday responsibilities. Ally serves Hazard in Perry County, Jackson in Breathitt County and Whitesburg in Letcher County. When you call, tell us which area you prefer and ask where housing is currently available. A campus address does not necessarily identify a housing address.
If getting to treatment is a concern, ask about transportation services early. Confirm the actual arrangements before traveling or accepting a placement.
Make the first call easier
You do not need a perfectly organized story. Start with: 'I am looking for sober living near Hazard, Jackson or Whitesburg. Can you explain the available options and the next step?' Have a way for the team to reach you, and ask which documents are needed. Share medical or insurance details through the intake process rather than in a public comment.
Call 888-920-9004 to discuss Ally's current options. Ask about openings, costs, eligibility and the assessment process. A phone conversation helps establish the next step; it does not guarantee a bed or admission.
